Gunnlaug Serpent-Tongue

I find that it rather interesting how highly valued poetry is in these stories. If a poem is good, one can instantly gain freinds in high places. I also thought that it was interesting that a theme in this story and in previous tales, is the theme of challenging kings' power or the induviduals' power. The latter is a theme that is culturally apart of America Today. While the prior is not as highly valued, it still is valued but not to the extent that it was.

The six readings for week 3

I find that a central theme in these is the theme of revenge. In Sarcastic Hallie, he uses revenge, to get "comensation from his 'dead brother'" Which was a very interesting read because Hallie used trickary to get what he wanted. But it was in a humurous way. I thought that this story was a good one, it made me laugh.
